Affordable Dental Options for Missing Teeth

If you have missing teeth, there are plenty of options available for teeth replacement, but not all of them are as affordable as you might wish. In fact, many teeth replacement methods are very expensive and can be made even more expensive by accompanying procedures.

Affordable options do exist, it is just a matter of finding them. This can be a difficult feat on your own, which is why we have compiled this guide to the best and most affordable options available to you when it comes to replacing your missing teeth.

What Tooth Replacement Options are Available?

Fortunately, because the world of dentistry is constantly evolving, there are many different options available to you so that you can have your missing teeth replaced.

The three main types of tooth replacement options are implants, dentures, and bridges. Building a solid understanding of these options can help you decide whether any of these options sound like the right solution for you, or whether you want to look for a more modern tooth replacement alternative. From there, you can look into the cost of each option and work out a plan with your dentist.

Long story short, implants are way too expensive, dentures are outdated, and bridges just plain suck. Not all is lost, though! Stabili-Teeth™ was created to be your same-day, lower-cost stable solution to missing teeth, and we’ve done our homework to fill the gaps where other options come up short. Ready to see for yourself? Dental Implants

Dental implants are a common option for teeth replacement because they can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or to support a denture or bridge. Unfortunately, dental implants can be extremely expensive, and there’s always a possibility that your body will reject the implant. For some forms of dental implants, the rejection rate is up to 50 percent of patients.

Dental implants are small posts that are surgically placed below your gums, and they hold an artificial tooth. While a few different kinds of implants exist, endosteal implants are most common. This type of implant gets placed into your jawbone so that the bone eventually grows around the implant and holds it in place. In order to be a candidate for endosteal implants, you need a certain amount of natural jawbone to hold the implant. If your jawbone isn’t thick enough, you’ll need jaw augmentation or bone grafting before the implants can be placed. These procedures can be costly themselves, and this extends the amount of time you’ll have to wait for a replacement tooth.

Implants generally are very secure, which is why some people choose them other methods that are infamous for needing replacements sooner than later like bridges and dentures. Because an implant essentially replaces the root of your missing teeth, and then the replacement tooth is attached, they are generally fairly comfortable and do not get removed for cleaning or other care. Implants allow you near-normal tooth functionality, so if you are only missing one or two teeth, this may be your first choice. However, if you’re trying to replace more than one tooth, the price can become prohibitively expensive.

That said, the main downside of traditional dental implants is that the healing process tends to be very long, and it can take many months for your implants to be complete because the process entails multiple appointments with healing time in between.

Dentures

Dentures are a traditional, cheap method of tooth replacement that has been around for decades, but there are better solutions in 2021.

There are a couple of different types of dentures available, including removable partial dentures and removable full dentures.

Removable denture options can be easily taken out of your mouth for cleaning and care, making them a non-permanent solution. Taking good care of your dentures will help them stay in good condition for longer, but dentures need to be replaced fairly regularly and they are very prone to breakage, loss, and wear and tear. If your dentures become ill-fitting, you’ll need to visit your dentist for a refit right away. Ill-fitting dentures can cause fungal infections, toxic Zinc exposure, swollen gums, or even oral cancer.

Partial dentures typically have a clasp that attaches the denture to your adjacent teeth, and your dentist may place crowns on these nearby teeth to protect them. Removable partial dentures generally do not require your adjacent teeth to be grinded down which can be a plus, but they are also typically less secure and stable than other options. Dentures also don’t protect against bone loss like other tooth replacement options can, and some even accelerate bone loss because of pressure at the bone ridges they are placed on.

With removable complete dentures, the denture sits on top of your gums where your teeth once were. This type of option can feel uncomfortable and may even impact your ability to taste good, speak, eat, smile, yawn, or cough. Dentures are also less natural looking than other tooth replacement options, and their lack of stability means that people with dentures can’t eat certain foods like steak, sticky candies, and popcorn.

In general, dentures have fairly low costs, but because they deteriorate over time and need to be replaced, they may be pretty expensive in the long run.

Fixed Bridges

Whereas dentures can be removed, fixed bridges are bonded or cemented into place in order to fill the gap in your mouth between your remaining teeth and your missing teeth. Only a dentist can remove a fixed bridge, making it a semi-permanent option.

The process of getting a fixed bridge involves preparing the adjacent teeth, usually by grinding them down. Unfortunately, this means that you’ll be sacrificing two of your remaining healthy teeth in order to place the bridge. Your bridge will just keep expanding and expanding over time to bridge more and more teeth together because it wears down the teeth it’s bonded to. Once this is done, your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and the space between them, and a lab will go ahead and make the bridge accordingly. While your final bridge is being made, your dentist will give you a temporary bridge to protect your teeth.

Bridges are a somewhat better option than dentures, but they are still prone to some wear and tear. They used to be a popular choice, but they regularly fail and need to be replaced. Like dentures, this frequent replacement eliminates much of the benefits of their cost-effectiveness.

Which Options Are Most Affordable? How Much Does Tooth Replacement Cost?

Now that your main options have been explained, let’s get into some details about how much it actually costs to get your teeth replaced.

There are a few different factors that impact how much a tooth replacement product will cost, and these factors include the material the product is made from, the location of the missing teeth, the type of product you choose, and whether or not additional procedures are necessary.

Additional procedures are procedures that are associated with methods of tooth replacement. As we mentioned earlier, when considering dental implants, you need enough natural jawbone in order to adequately support implants. If your jawbone is insufficient, a bone grafting or bone augmentation procedure will be recommended, and this can add on to the cost if the price is not all-inclusive. Tooth extraction and anesthesia can also result in a more expensive price, so it is important to consult your dentist for the most accurate estimate.

That said, you can still get a general idea of how much each option costs. Dentures tend to be the most affordable option upfront, and they may even be as low in cost as $300, but they can also range to prices over $1,000 depending on the situation. Bridges can range in price from $500 to $1,500. The more frequently you need your dentures and bridges refitted or replaced, the more they will cost. Implants are the most expensive, ranging from $1,500-$30,000 depending on how many implants you need. Implants often cost several thousand dollars for one tooth alone.
